Plant in Canada that will send out natural gas
to both Canadian and U.S. Markets.
Canaport LNG represents an important link in an international chain that connects natural gas fields around the world to North American end users of natural gas – one of the cleanest of fossil fuels.
Canaport LNG reinforces Saint John’s role as a crucial energy hub for North America.
We are a partnership between Irving Oil (25%) and Repsol YPF (75%).
Canaport LNG will be a state-of-the art regasification facility that complies with all safety and environmental regulations at the federal, provincial and local, Saint John levels.
Canaport LNG is responsible for the:
- Development
- Design
- Financing
- Building
- Ownership
- Operation and Maintenance
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) from around the world will
be brought by ship to this Saint John facility where the
LNG is regassified and distributed via underground pipes
to markets in Canada and the U.S.
Canaport LNG will supply 20% of the natural gas needs
of the U.S. northeast as well as Canadian needs.
