CANAPORT LNG UNDERGOING TERMINAL MAINTENANCE
Saint John, New Brunswick – During the month of May, Canaport LNG will be undergoing warranty related maintenance at its facility beginning in early May, 2011. This maintenance will be carried out on process equipment at the Terminal which will require a temporary suspension of Terminal operations.
Maintenance activities include work on a valve within the process equipment as well as the inspection of other equipment throughout the facility. Work on this valve will increase the Terminal’s operational flexibility and will allow Canaport LNG to reach its full send-out capacity of 1.2 BCF per day.
As a result of this work, there will be a significant flare which will be visible from some vantage points around the city for the duration of the shutdown, which is expected to last approximately one month. Flaring is part of the standard operation at LNG terminals to maintain normal operating pressure by burning off small amounts of excess natural gas. Upon completion of the maintenance, the flare will resume operating at its standard height and will not be visible to Saint John residents.
