The Canaport LNG team is made up of top experts from
around the world who are highly experienced in global energy
projects. Members of our Executive Management Team have
been involved in all facets of major energy projects in
Central, South and North America as well as in Europe.
Nearly 80% of the workers on the Canaport LNG site are drawn from the local Saint John labour force, and the majority of contractors are hired from the Saint John and New Brunswick business community. An important part of Canaport LNG’s human resources strategy is to attract and integrate talent that already exists within the worldwide ranks of Irving Oil and Repsol YPF to take advantage of the companies’ combined depth of experience in energy projects.

Phillip Ribbeck, CHAIRMAN OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Phil
Ribbeck is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Canaport
LNG and Director of LNG North America for Repsol YPF, the
co-owner of Canaport LNG. He oversees the development of
LNG receiving terminals for Repsol YPF and its affiliates
in North America. Mr. Ribbeck is also responsible for the
marketing and trading of LNG and regasified LNG for North
America.
Mr. Ribbeck has worked in the LNG industry for 26 years.
Before joining Repsol YPF he worked for Amoco and then
BP. During his tenure at BP, he helped to develop the first
three production facilities, called trains, for Atlantic
LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago, which will be an important
supplier to Canaport LNG.
Mr. Ribbeck is a graduate of Louisiana State University.
Jorge A. Ciacciarelli, GENERAL MANAGER
Jorge A. Ciacciarelli is the General Manager of Canaport LNG. A 33 year veteran of the Oil and Gas Industry. He joined Repsol YPF in 1998. And before the merger between Repsol and YPF, he worked for YPF for over 23 years in various engineering, supervisory and management positions.
He has served as General Manager of Lujan de Cuyo Refinery in Mendoza, (1998-2001), and La Plata Refinery (2001- 2005), both located in Argentina. Mr. Ciacciarelli earned a Chemical Technician degree from Escuela de Educación Técnica Albert Thomas in Argentina, and a second degree in Chemical Engineering from Argentina’s Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN), in 1966 and 1972 respectively. He has taken additional Microeconomics, Marketing and Management courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has completed other international training courses in Planning and Manufacturing Technology.
Adolfo José Azcárraga Gomis, CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING MANAGER
Adolfo
José Azcárraga Gomis, a project manager at
Repsol YPF since 2001, is responsible for the development
of Canaport LNG, including commercial, technical, legal
and financial aspects of the project. He brings a wealth
of experience to his position and to Canaport LNG as he
has managed projects in Spain for Repsol YPF, including
Cartagena LNG terminal expansion projects, a gas pipeline
compressor station, and an oil pipeline with an adjoining
booster pumping station.
Prior to joining Repsol YPF, Mr. Azcárraga was
the Network Expansion Manager at CEGAS a gas distribution
company subsidiary of Gas Natural in Valencia. He also
served as Construction Manager in Isolux - Wat a Spanish
EPC company. During this period he participated in construction
of gas related projects and as Construction Manager of
an electrolysis clorine production complex in Tarragona.
Mr. Azcárraga was educated at the Polytechnic
University of Valencia and, while a University student,
was trained at the British Petroleum (then Petromed) refinery
in Castellón, and Ford Motor Company Factory in
Valencia.
John Logan, PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER
Mr. Logan is the Program Development and Infrastructure Manager for Canaport LNG.
Under Program Development, Mr. Logan is responsible for the creation, approval and implementation of the project management and governance processes. These processes outline how shareholders want the project team to perform in areas such as finance, change management, human resources, public relations, health safety and environment, quality, and risk. These guidelines are based on the industry’s best practices and draw from the extensive experience and corporate cultures of Repsol YPF and Irving Oil.
Under Infrastructure Management, Mr. Logan coordinates all other aspects of the project or services that interface with the LNG process area EPC contract. These are the Jetty EPC contract, Brunswick Pipeline connection to Canaport LNG, NB Power connection to Canaport LNG, interfacing with Irving Oil on the new Mispec Road and any other similar areas that connect with the onshore EPC contract. Mr. Logan is also project manager responsible for the Jetty EPC contract.
Mr. Logan is seconded to Canaport LNG from Irving Oil where he has been employed for almost 20 years. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He has been involved in the Canaport LNG project for over five years. Previous to this he was Project Manager for the Grandview Cogeneration Project where two gas turbine power generators were installed at the Irving Oil Refinery. Over the years, Mr. Logan was involved with many other projects and in fleet management within Irving Oil Limited.
Francisco Garcia Tobar, FINANCIAL MANAGER
Francisco Garcia Tobar is the Financial Manager of Canaport LNG. His responsibilities include financial planning, project financing, budgeting, procurement, and community and investor relations.
Previously, Mr. Garcia Tobar served Repsol YPF as Head
of Investor Relations in the New York and Buenos Aires
offices. Before joining Repsol YPF in 1995, he worked with
Capital International Securities Group in both its Miami
and Buenos Aires offices.
Mr. Garcia Tobar earned a bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration from Facultad de Ciencias Económicas,
University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1992. He was
trained as an oil and gas projects analyst at Instituto
Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA), in 1996, and
continued his education at the Instituto para el Desarrollo
Empresarial de la Argentina (IDEA), where he earned a Master
in Business Administration in 1998.
