We are committed to a clean and healthy environment. Canaport LNG works to preserve our environment in two ways:
1. Compliance Standards
Canaport LNG complies with the New Brunswick Clean Environment Act and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, overseen by the New Brunswick Department of Environment, Environment Canada and Fisheries and Oceans.
Parts of these acts include safety requirements in design for the LNG storage tanks, safety zones surrounding LNG process equipment and transport tankers, and security monitoring systems to oversee LNG transfer, all to protect the community and environment throughout the operation of our terminal.
2. Clean. Safe. Energy.
Natural gas is noted to be the cleanest-burning hydrocarbon fuel. By using the regasified LNG that we produce for our own fuel, we reduce the possible emissions that could damage the environment. In addition to our already low level of emissions, Canaport LNG recently upgraded the terminal to become more efficient and reduce its environmental footprint even further by installing a booster compressor. Completion of this project will reduce the amount of boil-off gas (BOG) sent to flare, resulting in the reduction of the Terminal’s emissions.
