CELBRATING 10 YEARS – CANAPORT LNG DONATES $25,000 TO SHINING HORIZONS THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION

Saint John, New Brunswick: Building on its commitment to provide opportunities for youth, Canaport LNG is thrilled to provide a donation of $25,000 to Shining Horizons Therapeutic Riding Association.

Located in Red Head, Shining Horizons offers a horseback riding program (equine therapy) to youth with, but not limited to, autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and neuromuscular disorder. The benefits are numerous; not only is it a source of enjoyment for its riders and their families, it is also a therapeutic exercise and recreational sport, allowing caregivers, parents and family members a weekly activity where they can watch their loved ones enjoy themselves in a safe, relaxing setting.

Getting to know this organization has been an absolute pleasure,” said Canaport LNG’s General Manager, Javier Azagra. “The Shining Horizons team is amazing; they work incredibly hard to provide a wonderful, beneficial experience for youth and their families and their focus on inclusion, community participation and providing recreational opportunities for youth are the same values we strive for. We couldn’t be happier to support this outstanding organization.”

Dave Ryan, Executive Director of Shining Horizons, said: "We are extremely grateful to Canaport LNG. Our Association would not have the ability to provide our services without sponsorships and donations. This support, from one of our Bay of Fundy shoreline neighbours, is greatly appreciated. It is wonderful to have Canaport LNG as part of our SHTRA Community."

Riders benefit from improved balance and muscle strength, improved postural control, increased range of motion of the joints, endurance and cardiovascular conditioning, to name a few. Apart from the physical benefits, there can be improved self- confidence, socialization and stress reduction.

Shining Horizons Therapeutic Riding Association’s goal is to create opportunities for youth with disabilities and their families to thrive through therapeutic riding. Therapeutic riding uses horses and equine-assisted activities to provide a wide range of long-term physical, social and emotional benefits for the rider.
